Metamorphosis and Silence: Tracing the Road to the Battle of Okinawa through Soldiers’ Diaries
The documentary film Metamorphosis and Silence: Tracing the Road to the Battle of Okinawa through Soldiers’ Diaries, presented by Yoshikazu Hara, which was featured at the 2024 symposium co-hosted by the Kyoto Museum for World Peace, Ritsumeikan University, has now been completed.
The film offers a unique documentary perspective, following the wartime experiences of three Japanese soldiers through readings from their diaries. Their personal accounts are interwoven with on-site footage and broader historical context, offering an intimate yet expansive portrayal of the road to the Battle of Okinawa.
The film will be screened from August 16 to 29 at K’s Cinema in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
