Interdisciplinary Symposium on the Long-Term Effects of World War II in Japan 2023

Recovery from Cultural Trauma

Trauma affects not only individuals and families, but also society and culture, and is transmitted from generation to generation. World War II was the worst war in world history, involving 30 countries and killing over 70 million people. Studies have shown the long-term effects of World War II on society as a whole in various regions and nations around the world. However, research on the trauma and long-term effects of World War II in Japan has not been well shared. For this reason, we have organized an executive committee to organize a symposium to discuss the trauma and long-term effects of World War II in Japan in an interdisciplinary manner. And starting in FY2023, we have decided to undertake a new interdisciplinary symposium on recovery from cultural trauma. This event will serve as a launching pad. We look forward to your participation.
