In Japan over the past 6 years, members of a growing network of
mental health professionals, community leaders and researchers
in history, social science, politics and the arts have engaged in
interdisciplinary symposia and workshops aimed at understanding
the long-term effects of the Second World War on the Japanese people,
their culture and society. This seminar, presented by the network’s
founding members, introduces the work of the group, and seeks
expressions of interest to participate in a joint Japanese-Australian
symposium in 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of The War in
a spirit of goodwill and peace.
This seminar is delivered in partnership with Global Japan Office, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
(TUFS), and also Resona Asia-Oceania Foundation, 2024 International Academic Exchange Grant.
